The Maer Mobile Challenge
Take part in the Maer Mobile Challenge - an interactive smartphone nature trail for children. It can be played on the Maer Local Nature Reserve, located on Exmouth seafront in East Devon. This five acre grassland just behind the sand dunes is home to some weird and wonderful wildlife including six rather special species like the Clouded Yellow Butterfly, musical Grasshopper and luminous Puss Moth Caterpillar.
Find out some amazing things about these critters in the Play Zone as well as climb, slide and swing on some huge wooden beasts. Then using a smartphone with access to the internet, go to www.maermobilechallenge.co.uk where you can join Olly the Owl and all his friends to play the Maer Mobile Challenge. Let's see if you can become a "smart" Maer Ranger. This interactive nature trail will have you exploring the whole of the Maer, answering questions about the wonderful wildlife, following maps to look for hidden clues and even trying to spot the critters yourself. The big question is; will you score bronze, silver or gold!? And which critter has false eyes and a pointy bum?
The Maer has its own BBQ area next to the Play Zone and makes the perfect place to spend a few hours playing, exploring and cooking up a family feast.
The Maer Mobile Challenge: www.maermobilechallenge.co.uk brought to you by East Devon District Council, the Maer LNR and Dream Machine Media.
